I'm not here to talk about Harry Potter today, but there's something else I just want to let out.
Now, I had taken several day offs from school and went to Putrajaya to work on my registration of marriage (ROM). I had mentioned in one of my YouTube videos that I was assigned as an invigilator for SPM, and I would not be able to settle the ROM in two weeks as I am to be wedded to a foreigner. The procedures will take at least a month's time.
I was initially told that I was nominated to be an invigilator by the Senior Assistant of Administration, whom I will address as Sam in this entry. The first thing that came to my mind was "Could I get the ROM done in such a short time?" After all, SPM usually ends in the mid of December. On top of that, I was the class teacher of the Form 3, which means that I was obliged to be in school on the day my students would get their PT3 result. No doubt, I only had a week for myself, excluding the teachers' meeting before school reopens. "Would there be any teacher who could replace me?" I wondered.
What happened to the nomination?
Well, shortly after that, there was a meeting and Sam officially elected the nominees as the invigilators. According to her, the nominated ones should carry out the duty and responsibilities without complain, and she did not want to hear any objection. Before I knew it, I had to postpone my ROM. Since Sam openly said that, I did not explain to her my situation as she would not listen, and I did not plead for any replacement.
I had to take day offs from school to work on it, and of course my significant other had to do the same too. There are several places where we both have to go. Weekends are never possible since offices (especially government's) are closed, and he is the busiest on weekends. Weekdays are our only way, and I applied for the day offs weeks before actually going. Sam, who has the authority to second each teacher's day off, totally understands my situation and approved all my day off applications.
I could say that I was relieved for everything was going smoothly, and what is left is the day for my significant other and I to go to the marriage registration office to sign forms so that we will officially be husband and wife. So, once again I applied for day off in order to go to the capital and be registered. This time, I submitted my application a month prior to the date of ROM.
On the very same day I submitted the application, the clerk gave me a call and told me that Sam would like to see me. My first instinct was vivid and I was almost very sure that Sam did not summon me just to congratulate me, but it must be the application.
And I was right.
I stepped into her office when I was mentally ready to fight for my future LOL
Sam said that she's unable to second my leave because I had taken too many day offs. Immediately, I responded that I took the day offs for important matter and not because I felt like skipping work. Then, Sam claimed that she understands and knows that I went to several offices and departments in Putrajaya, but I should not take more than three day offs as of March (she previously stressed that a teacher can only take a day off in a month). I think my voice got shaky when I replied that after all, I am not the type of employee who likes to be absent from work any time. Lastly, Sam said that she would have to discuss with the principal first. I am totally fine with it since the principal is an understanding person and she owns the right to approve application.
As I walked out, I suddenly wondered why did Sam second ALL my day off applications at the first place if I should not take more than once a month. There are a total of 6 day offs she seconded.
Two days later, I went to the office again to take a form. Yus, the chief clerk waved and signaled me to go closer to her. I walked to her, and she whispered to me that Sam did not second my application. I already knew that. I asked Yus if Sam had talked to principal already, and she said no Sam did not.
I told Yus that medical leave would be my last resort, but she said that it's not a wise move and she's worry if any officer from the Education Department would investigate the medical cert and my ROM dates. She's got a point there. At that exact moment, it appeared to me that Sam had no intention of discussing with the principal, and she just wanted to disregard my day off application for my ROM.
Yus advised me to consult the principal directly, and I agreed. I would do that when the March break ends.
Honestly, it feels like shit.
Knowing that Sam assigned me to be an invigilator and refused to listen to any objection, causing our (my significant other and I) plan to be postponed. And the fact that Sam seconded ALL my day off applications so that I could work on the ROM just to tell me that I took too many day offs when I need just one more day to sign the ROM form.
I can't help but to say that Sam is making my life difficult LOL considering all the time, and costs of transportation and toll, and how tired it is going to Putrajaya from my house, that's more than 3 hours. I used to think that Sam was a nice and rational senior, but clearly I was wrong.
I have not forgiven Sam since the nomination thing last year.
If this was Hogwarts, I'd land a Riddikulus spell on her lmao
Ridiculous, but yeah. Damn Sam. Stop making others' life difficult.
EDIT
Since she claimed that a teacher can only apply a day off once a month, I went searching for the proof. I looked for official letters and statements concerning day offs.
I did not find any rules or statements indicating that we can only have a day off once a month.
In fact, we can apply day offs any time we want. However, the approval of day off is controlled the principal.
I went to the principal to talk about the day off thing related to Sam.
The principal gladly approves my day off, and will let me take more if I really need it.
