Aesthetically Pleasing to the Eyes

πŸ“· Eros
I was lucky to be chosen by The Butterfly Project Malaysia to join 14 others in a Flatlay Tea Party Workshop held last week. The workshop was held at Delectable by Su and the floral decorations for the workshop was provided by none the other than Avantgarde Blooms. The master trainer of the workshop was Azrin Aidil of From The Top.

The workshop started sharp at 11 a.m. and we were given some time to get ourselves a drink using the drinks coupon provided.

It's flatlay, it's tea party. Lolita is my answer for the outfit.

Then, we had some time to roam around and capture photos before the workshop officially began.

By the way, The Butterfly Project sponsored the food!
Thank youuuuuu

More food photos below!

Thank you Avantgarde Blooms for bringing and decorating the venue with flowers!

Below is a table (or counter) of props brought by the master trainer for us to use~

Here's our group photo before we proceeded the next agenda~

Then, a welcome speech by Leonard (black top, second from the left)~
He always makes everyone feels less tensed up and warms the surrounding.

Next, getting to know the flowers~

πŸ“· Ming

Emi of Avantgarde Blooms brought flowers and greens which we could all use for the workshop too! There were Kenya roses, chamomile and eucalyptus! We learnt the different names of the Kenya Roses, such as Blush, Proud and Buttercup.

If you place these three types of Kenya Roses in front of me now, I probably can't tell which is which hahah

Now, on to the next agenda everyone was anticipating for.

πŸ“· Eros

I was shocked to hear that Azrin the master trainer (aka flat-slayer) is actually a lecturer in a local university!
What a coincidence that we are both educators who have a thing for flatlay photography!

πŸ“· Eros

Her lesson covered the basics of and The 7 Things to Tackle when dealing with flatlay.
I think that it is unfair for me to write all that I learnt because I read that fee is required to attend her workshop.
So, what I can say is

go explore all the possible ways to take photos from exactly the top!
πŸ“· Eros

It was really eye-opening that she guided us and demonstrated how to take a great flatlay shot. I love how Azrin engaged us by asking questions. In a way, she helps us to keep in mind the important aspects when attempting flatlay photos.

πŸ“· Eros

Shortly after her input, all of us got to form a group of 3 for a group task!

We all got to experiment a flatlay photo!

πŸ“· Eros

We were free to use all the items we saw on the props counter as well as on the dining table! Some of us were really creative and used the cupcakes as the subject in the photo!

ps: Stand on a chair if you have to.

Here is my team's product after Azrin assisted us and touched up our experiment:

After that, we had our refreshments~

The cupcakes smelled great and tasted fine, but I thought that the cream or icing was sweet for my liking. What I enjoyed the most was the mini meringue tart! I don't have the photo of it, but it is in the photo above! The sourness was marvelous!

There were also croissant, mini fruit tart, mini mushroom tart, and this chocolate in a jar dessert. I'm sorry that I don't know the name TT____TT Other than that, lemon meringue tart, layercake-like cake. To make things sound more delicious, you can look at the photos:

Individual photos by Eros

Thank you Delectable by Su for the scrumptious food!
Thank you The Butterfly Project Malaysia for sponsoring!!

By the way, I almost forgot that each of us received table gifts! Thank you Althea Korea for sponsoring the A'Bloom Fruit Masks and the set of Meringue Puffs!

πŸ“· Eros

I previously received them, thanks to The Butterfly Project, and I have written reviews on the masks here and the puffs here!

The puffs made great props for the workshop!

Oui, lolita all teh wayyyy

While Azrin and I were chatting, Eros asked us for a photo. I love how we looked eheheh

After the finger-licking good refreshment was the group assessment where a group of 3 would need to create a flaylay shot! We could stick to the same group or form a new one, and the group members of the best creation would be given a present each! It's not that simple as everyone had to present and talk about their group's creation too!

Frankly speaking, I thought my group member, Carolyn, wanted to get new members. Both her and I were still awkward after the first hands-on experiment, and I thought she was uncomfortable with me. Glad that we were still together ahahah Thank youuu

πŸ“· Eros

For the assessment, all groups were given 30 minutes to produce and send the flatlay photo to the WhatsApp group created prior to the workshop for evaluation.

My edit for the collage is so bad ugh I cringed looking at it

Leonard was counting down all the way,
I swear I had never felt so stressful on a Sunday before lololol

Everyone spoke well during the group presentation, and then there was my team XD
I think Carolyn and I just said whatever popped up on our minds while we were standing in front of everyone hahah

By the way,
there were only two of us because another member of ours had to leave the workshop for something else. It was nice of her to drop by and join the workshop although it wasn't very long.

After the evaluation by The Butterfly Project and Azrin, ROSÉ was announced the winner and each of the team member received the Candy Magic Mini Hair Straightener, sponsored by Althea Korea~

Ayyyy congrats~

If you'd like, you can also purchase one on Althea's website by clicking here~

This was their outcome,
and who doesn't love the simplicity in this photo?

They definitely deserved their prize~

And this is Carolyn and I~

πŸ“· Eros

To end this post, I'd like to share this candid photo of mine captured by none the other, but Eros. It's been some time since anyone took a nice candid photo like this hahahah Thank you so much~

I had fun during the workshop and I learnt a lot~
I hope to be lucky to join in future events and workshops organised by The Butterfly Project Malaysia again in the near future~
