[REVIEW] Shu Uemura 1-Step Deep Cleansing Oil

I saw a Facebook advertisement on the product mentioned above back in March. Shu Uemura was giving out a 3-days trial pack and I was tempted to get one. I have never used anything from Shu Uemura before, so I wanted to know how good it is since it is one of those high end brands.

And so I redeemed one and got the pack which is suitable for my skin type. I did not have the chance to try it until the end of April, and finally have some time to write about it.

What is it?
To simply put it, it is actually a 2-in-1 product which functions to remove your makeup and cleanse your face. It is called cleansing oil because that is what it is.

How many types?
6 types for six different skin concerns, namely:
- global skin
- anti-pollution & dullness
- pore/oily skin
- brightening
- nourishing
- all skin types

What did I get?
I got the one which is suitable or pore/oily skin type.
It claims to be lightweight, and as I know, oil has lesser dense than water so the cleansing oil will wash away excess sebum and trapped blackheads when rinsed with water. Thus, in the long run, pores will be able to shrink as blackheads are removed, and the face will be refined and smooth.

How to use?
1. Pump the cleansing oil 3 to 4 times on dry hands
2. Gently smooth over dry face
3. Wet face with water to emulsify the cleansing oil
4. Rinse thoroughly with water.

Opinion?
Although I know that the cleansing oil will bring all the dirt to the surface and water will wash everything away, leaving my face really clean,
I was still worry about what it would do to my face. It is oil, after all. As if my face is not oily enough. I took the courage to try anyway since I really wanted to know how good this brand is.

Clear, and runny.

Each sachet of the trial pack contains 4 ml of cleansing oil, and it is clear and runny. One sachet is slightly too much for me tho, so I saved half of it for another day. Since it is to be applied on dry hands, I made sure that my hands were clean before having contact with it.

Smoothing it all over my face made me feel like I fell into a pot of oil hahah
Then, instead of wetting the face to emulsify the cleansing oil, I wet my hands.

Emulsification turned the liquid milky colour, and the scent became more prominent. Somehow the scent made me felt so relaxed. The scent wasn't too strong, but clear enough to notice. Anyone with sensitive skin should check the ingredients list just in case there would be any allergic reaction.

For the last step, washing thoroughly the face would do, and there's no need to wash again with the usual facial cleanser. After that, I went to dry my face at my towel, but..

Maybe there was residue of eyeshadow, eyeliner or mascara in my eyes that didn't go away. So, after patting my face and wiping dry my face on the towel, there were stains from my eyes. It didn't make me happy, of course, seeing my towel ended up like that.

On top of that, I felt like my face was unusually smooth. It was as if the cleansing oil was still there. Shu Uemura claims that cleansing oil will being benefits including hydration, softness and smoothness, which are all equivalent to what I felt. However, I could not confirm what I felt was really the hydration, softness and smoothness. Since I was worry that it was actually the cleansing oil, I washed my face again using my usual facial cleanser.

Conclusion?
Well, it is time-saving and easy to use. The scent made me felt relaxed, so I liked it. Perhaps I didn't clean my face properly using the cleansing oil, and it caused stains on my towel. As of now, I would not purchase the full size. In fact, I did not use all the 3 sachets in the trial pack, but I would. After that, I might be able to tell myself if it is worth buying.
