Yesterday, a news post went viral all over Malaysia. It all began when a politician who was holding a live FB post suddenly received a call from a viewer known as Azrul.
He first commented on her way of dressing since all viewers could see her upper torso as she swayed to her side. Logically, her headscarf would also move to the side due to the shift in the centre point. Go study science if you don't understand. However, that was not all. Azrul went on saying that "we can see your underwear, we can see your breasts." Please look at the image above and justify the quote said by him.
I will not go any further than this, but listen up.
Look, the way a woman dresses is never a sign of invitation for anything sexual related. This politician and Azrul is a living proof that even if you are covered from the head to the toes, you will still be a victim of sexual desires or fantasies. No matter how decent you dress, you can't change the fact that people will stare at your body.
Rape victims from other countries were not given justice, and we never want anyone to fall victim to such cases. The most remarkable comment I remember from a court case (rape) was "She asked for it." Now, please know that there was no communication in whatsoever form involved.
How not to be victimised?
While they are fighting for justice for things that have happened,
this one is right too,
However, I do not think that it is enough just to voice out.
I always agree on the thought of sending a child to a self-defense class. As I, too, attended self-defense classes when I was 9, I believe that having this skill is essential because you would not know when it will come in handy. It is never a waste of money if it benefits you. I stopped learning when I moved to secondary school because I did not like the new learning environment. I had a red belt and would have been a master today if I continued learning.
I am sure that you have also watched videos on where to hit if you are being strangled. Even if you remembered the steps and points, it will be different if you attempt to do it. You must try and practise it with somebody.
Prevention is better than cure.
By the way, I hate this stupid law where rape survivors are jailed for defending themselves against rapist because "they attack him". The fact that rapists walk free from the court shows how ugly the society is. Ugh.
Shut up and don't say "don't be a rape victim" because talk is cheap.
